READY, SET, LEARN
INVITATION TO FAMILIES OF 3 YEAR OLD CHILDREN
Victoria West Elementary School will be hosting a READY, SET, LEARN open house for 3 year old children and their parents on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 beginning at 1:00 and concluding at 2:00 in the school gymnasium. Our goal is to help introduce young children to the school setting in an atmosphere of play. Stations will be set up in the gym for the children to visit (building blocks, puzzles, booklets, etc.). There will be other professionals in attendance such as our school nurse, our speech pathologist, school librarian. Representatives from Vic West Community Centre, High Point Church and Foot Prints have also been invited to attend.
Later in the school year, we will be inviting those children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall to attend a Kindergarten Orientation with their parents. Please pass this notice on to any neighbours who may have a 3 year old and who do not already have a student attending our school. Please contact Mr. Cardle, Principal or Mrs. Dick Vice-Principal at the school if you have any questions.

Inclement Weather
We are now approaching the season when inclement weather may
affect the safety and welfare of students. In particular, snowy
weather has the potential to cause school closure or some
School District 61 services to be suspended. During inclement
weather, information about schools will be updated
continuously on the Greater Victoria School District 61 website
at http://www.sd61.bc.ca/. Within the Greater Victoria School District,
the Superintendent of Schools will provide media outlets with
information about the status of our facilities and transportation
services by 6:30 a.m.
